India’s leading natural gas company, GAIL is a Navratna of Government of India. It has diversified interests across the natural gas value chain of trading, transmission, LPG production & transmission, LNG re-gasification, petrochemicals, city gas, E&P, etc. It owns and operates a network of around 13,340 km of natural gas pipelines spread across the length and breadth of the country.

Recently, GAIL has completed laying Rs 2,433-crore pipeline that will bring to West Bengal cooking fuel that is cheaper than other liquid fuels. The 348-kilometer pipeline from Dobhi in Bihar to Durgapur in West Bengal is part of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project to take environment-friendly natural gas to India's eastern parts.

In 2020, the Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline project got ready for commissioning. The pipeline covers a stretch of 444 km and will supply gas to all seven districts it passes through Kerala -- Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod -- and Wayanad district.
