N. Chandrababu Naidu Showcases Real-Time Governance to Bill Gates in Amaravati

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday presented the state’s technology-led governance architecture to Bill Gates, highlighting how data integration and digital platforms are reshaping public service delivery.

During his visit, Gates toured the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS), where officials demonstrated systems such as the Data Lake, Aware 2.0, WhatsApp Governance and the Sanjeevani health initiative. Naidu explained that interlinking departments through a unified data backbone enables real-time monitoring, faster response, and evidence-based policymaking.

Gates sought clarity on how live inputs gathered through Aware 2.0 translate into administrative action. He appreciated the effort to make services more reachable via messaging platforms, observing that such integration can dramatically improve accessibility and responsiveness for citizens.

On land administration, officials said records are protected using blockchain along with QR-enabled verification, reducing tampering risks while enhancing transparency.

A major focus of the interaction was the Sanjeevani programme, supported in Chittoor by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates reviewed how digital records track conditions such as hypertension and diabetes and how citizens receive preventive guidance on lifestyle and nutrition. He welcomed the potential of AI to expand affordable diagnostics, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Naidu also briefed him on Amaravati’s urban development, including its commitment to significant green and blue infrastructure. After reviewing progress, Gates termed the initiative strong work.

The visit underscores Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to position governance as a real-time, measurable system. By combining data platforms, citizen interfaces and preventive healthcare models, the state aims to move from scheme distribution to outcome management. For global partners, the experiment offers a template of how digital public infrastructure, when aligned with political intent, can scale impact quickly.
