In a landmark move, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has launched a wholly owned subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence Limited, to spearhead its ambitious entry into Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company confirmed in a stock exchange filing that it received its certificate of registration from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on September 9.
This development follows RIL’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in August, where Chairman Mukesh Ambani unveiled plans for an AI-focused subsidiary. He emphasized that Reliance Intelligence will drive the creation of gigawatt-scale AI-enabled data centers across India, powered entirely by renewable energy from the company’s expanding green energy ecosystem. These facilities aim to meet India’s national AI training and inference needs while positioning the country as a global AI hub.
Reliance Intelligence will pursue four strategic missions:
Next-Generation Infrastructure – Building state-of-the-art AI data centers.
Global Partnerships – Collaborating with international leaders in AI.
AI Services for India – Delivering solutions tailored to Indian enterprises and consumers.
AI Talent Development – Cultivating a skilled workforce to accelerate innovation.
Construction of the first phase of these data centers has already begun in Jamnagar, Gujarat. They will be developed in stages to ensure scalability and sustainability.
The AGM also highlighted Reliance’s succession planning. Akash and Isha Ambani presented growth strategies for telecom and retail, while Anant Ambani, recently appointed as an executive director, made his AGM debut, outlining business priorities and signaling his expanding leadership role.
This bold foray into AI underscores RIL’s vision of combining technological leadership with sustainable energy goals, marking a new chapter in India’s digital future.
